4: The President of the World Fellowship of Buddhists and acting Rector
of the World Buddhist University H.E. Phan Wannamethee, the executive board
of the WFB and representatives from regional centers presented their homage
to the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand at Chulalongkorn University
Hospital on the auspicious occasion of the New Year.

4: at the same venue, the Dhamma Pradeep Society donated bhts. 100,000
towards the victims of the tsunami. The sum was presented to the
President of the WFB in his capacity of General Secretary to the Thai Red
Cross.

4: Ven. Ryoko Nishioka, Administrative Director, Tendai Buddhist
Denomination, together with Ven. Shinsho Kakehi, Chief of the International
Section, and Ven. Tetsuen Saito from the same section extended an invitation
to the President of the WFB to attend The 18th Mt. Hiei Religious Summit
Annual Meeting of Prayer for World Peace on August 3rd and 4th of 2005
on “Searching for a Bridge to Peace : a dialogue among Asian Buddhists”
arranged by The Tendai Association for Religious Cooperation toward World
Peace, Shiga-ken, Japan . The party was warmly welcomed by
Lt. Gen. Chalom Wismol, Vice President of the WFB, Mr. Phallop Thaiarry,
the Honorary Secretary-General, and Mr. Samarn Naruemityarn the Assistant
Secretary-General.

23: The WFB, the WFBY, and the WBU organized a ceremony of recitals and
dhamma discourse to dedicate merit to the victims of the tsunami at the
Sanya Dhammasakti auditorium, WFB HQ, presided over by the Venerable Dhammavarajariya.
There was a dhamma talk both in Thai and English by Prah Dr. Anilaman Dhammasakiyo
[Sakya] on “A Buddhist Reflection of Tsunami”. H.E. Phan Wannamethee
presided over the laity.
The WFB has created the WFB Fund for Disaster Relief to which many people kindly contributed, for example The Japan Buddhist Federation represented by the Rev. Ryoko Suyama, The Foundation in Support of WFB Activities, The Thai-Chinese Buddhist Association, The Dhamma Pradipa Association, The Thailand Buddhist Hokkeko Nichiren Shoshu Association, the Mind Power Institution [Wat Dhammamongkol], the Director of the National Buddhist Office, Dr. Chakradhamma Dhammasakti, Lt. Gen. Chalom Wismol, Honorary Professor Krisda Arunvongse, Dr. Boonyong Vongvanij and Ms Silavadee Chayabongse. The organizers greatly appreciates their generosity through which we have received the total of 690,094.59 bahts.

2: Rev.Yoshiharu Tomatsu, a WFB Executive Council Member, and his party
from the Japan Buddhist Federation (JBF), Tokyo, Japan met with Mr. Phallop
Thaiarry, the Honorary Secretary-General, and Mr. Samarn Naruemityarn the
Assistant Secretary-General, to in form them that the JBF plans to encourage
regional centres to participate more actively in the international arena
and has aready begun implementing this policy in Laos and Cambodia.

10: Advisors to the WFB Executive Board, Dr. Manoon Mookpradit, the Vice
Secretary-General of the Chaipatana Foundation, Honorary Professor Krisda
Arunvongse Na Ayudhaya, President of the Dhamma in the Park Assembly, and
Dr. Chakradhamma Dhammasakti the Director of the National Office of Buddhism,
together attended the board meeting. WFB board meetings are held
every fortnight, on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month.

February
14: Dr. Yong-Pyo Kim, Professor of Religious Studies, Dongguk University,
and Vice-President, WFB Korea Religional Centre, Seoul, Korea and a group
of professors and graduate students visited the WFB and the WBU, where
they were warmly welcomed by Mr. Samarn Naruemityarn and Dr. Nandasarn
Seesalab, WBU Advisor.

February
23: The WFB together with regional centers organized a ceremony to celebrate
Maga Puja 2548 [2005] during which the Buddha's relics in the Headquarter's
care was placed in the front of the building in Benjasiri Park for public
view and veneration from 8.00-20.00. At 8.00 there was also food
offering to nine monks, then from 9.30-12.00, 50 Thai and foreign monks
were invited to performed recitals in the Sanya Dhammasakti Auditorium.
The Venerable Prah Brahmavajiranana the Abbot of Wat Yannawa gave a sermon entitled 'Magapuja Katha' after which he led a period of meditation. The ceremonies ended with luncheon and requisites offered to the monks, followed by lunch for the laity.
