May we join our President and all of us at the WFB in our condolences on the loss of a hard working, dynamic Pope John Paul II, and congratulations on the rapid election of his successor on the throne of St Peter. Especially we would like to express our pleasure at one of Pope Benedict XVI's proclaimed missions; to continue “an open and sincere dialogue” with other religions and to do everything in his power to improve the ecumenical cause. We look forward very much to this proposed collaboration and hope that we could all achieve some measure of peace and happiness in this world through some common aspects of our main teachings: the Five Precepts in Buddhism and the Ten Commandments in the Christian beliefs. If we all could refrain from harmful and hurtful acts such as to kill, steal or lie, our individual peaceful acts will constitute our part in society in general, for what is society but the collective made of individuals? And what is the world of humans but the collective societies of the population of this earth?
We are always willing to work towards peace, happiness and understanding,
