You can also find the addresses of all regional centers around the world at this URL:  <http://www.wfb-hq.org/center2.htm> [If there are any mistakes or additional information and e-mail addresses to add to the page please let us know, thank you very much in advance,]

Dear Webmaster,

Thank you for answering my question about WFB's Centre in The Netherlands on July 6, 2005. It did not reach my e-mailbox, but I found the message recently on your website.

The address given, viz. Buddhist Institute, 499 Mient, The Hague, Netherlands, is no longer correct. The Buddhist Institute was closed down a number of years ago after the death of the president of the Institute, Mr. J. Bloemsma.

For many years Mr. Bloemsma was on the board of the Dutch Buddhist Centre, later renamed Stichting Vrienden van het Boeddhisme (Foundation Friends of Buddhism), which is the oldest Buddhist organisation in the Netherlands. Please see the website http://www.vriendenvanboeddhisme.nl/

The Buddhist Union of the Netherlands represents most Buddhist groups in this
country. You'll find more info on http://www.boeddhisme.nl/home.html

As I am preparing to write a history of Buddhism in the Netherlands I am interested in any information about Mr. Bloemsma's visits to WFB Conferences and his other activities in connection with the WFB, e.g. acting as a host for Asian Buddhists visiting this country. Any help you could provide would be most welcome.

With kind regards,

Jacques den Boer

Dear Jacques den Boer

I'm sorry for the delay in replying, first of all I would like to thank
you for the information about the Buddhist Institute, in The Hague,
Netherlands, and its founder Mr. J. Bloemsma.  Apparently the WFB general
secretariat was not informed therefore the latest status for the
Netherlands regional centre was 'unreachable'.  Now that I have printed
out your letter for them, they are revising the  list of regional centres
and as soon as they have finished I will put up the revised list.  As
webmaster I can only put up the members list given me by the general
secretariat, and correct the details such as change of address, phone
numbers, add website URLs etc. where needed.

I have also asked a staff member to look into your querry on Mr. Bloemsma,
but it might take some time because there are some major events [Buddhist
summits, holidays and WFB international conferences etc.] coming up at the
WFB that is keeping everyone busy.

I assume that you are yourself from the Netherlands, would you happen to
know another great Buddhist teacher, Nina Van Gorkom, in the Hague?  She
studies with Ajarn Sujin Boriharnwanaket, who has been teaching the dhamma
according to the Theravada Tipitaka for over forty-five years.  If you
wish I will give you her email address.  I don't know if she knows Mr.
Bloemsma but perhaps she might be able to help you with your research,

Thank you again for everything, and best wishes,

Webmaster, WFB-HQ.ORG
