    Invitation for the 24^th General Conference of the World Fellowship of Buddhists

 

I have the honor to extend the invitation of Mr. Phan Wannamethee, President of the World Fellowship of Buddhists, to you to send two delegates to represent your Regional Centre at the 24^th General Conference, which is scheduled to take place from the 14^th – 17^th of November B.E. 2551 (2008) in Asakusa, Tokyo, Japan. The theme for the 24^th General Conference will be “Buddhist Contributions to Resolving Social Problems”. It is our pleasure to host the General Conference as we are celebrating the 50^th anniversary of Japan Buddhist Federation along with the theme “In Touch with Community.  In Touch as Asia. Touch the World.” 

 

I hope you would be able to accept Mr. President’s invitation. If you are, please kindly complete the enclosed Confirmation Form and return it to us by September 25^th B.E.2551 (2008) for the convenience of the Secretariat of the General Conference. Japan is a country which is always exercising a strict immigration policy, In order to ensure unforeseen problems with visa application for the delegates, it will be necessary to obtain as much personal information on the delegates as possible. In the meantime, please apply for your visa into Japan at Japanese Embassy or Japanese Consulate in your country.

 

For your information, the Organizing Committee will provide to all delegates, board and lodging at Asakusa View Hotel between the evening of November 13^th and the morning of November 17^th B.E.2551 (2008) for JPY 30,000-. For the observers, we offer board and lodging at Asakusa View Hotel for JPY 110,000-, or at Hotel Sunroute Asakusa for JPY 90,000-, between the evening of November 13^th and the morning of November 17^th B.E. 2551 (2008). All participants are required to provide their own airfares. 

 

Please read a copy of Preliminary Information Sheet for details. A list of programs for the Conference is also attached. The Organizing Committee for the 24^th General Conference is looking forward to welcoming you to Tokyo, and will do our very best to make sure that your stay will be truly pleasant and comfortable.
